Review
This season's charity concert was given by the GSA Singers in aid of Cherry Trees, the organisation that provides local parents of disabled and chronically ill children the chance to take a break from their onerous responsibilities. The children are well looked after and offered a world of new experiences and opportunities that they may not have had at home.
These singers, highly able and well disciplined students from the Guildford School of Acting, Director Samantha Lloyd, entertained us on 30th November with an evening of two Acts of virtually non-stop song and dance routine worthy of London's West End for which they are in training. With their Music Director and Pianist, Peter Roberts, they presented a very slick and enjoyable show with a great variety of well known modern tunes together with medleys from the 1960s and Andrew Lloyd Webber, Irving Berlin, and Rogers and Hammerstein favourites.
Altogether, this was a very pleasing and brilliantly presented concert and was much appreciated by the enthusiastic audience. They mostly approved of our presenting a lighter programme of music as a change from our more serious fare and as a result a sum of £200 is to be presented to Cherry Trees to swell their funds.
